Name: Jose Galeano
Place of Origin: Managua, Nicaragua
Instrument: Timbales, Vocals

Biggest musical influence?
My family, and more specifically my uncle; percussionist Jose "Chepito" Areas who provided the spice for the pioneering Latin rock sound of the legendary Santana Band. Watching him as a youngster made me realize that anything is possible and you can do anything if you put your mind to it. He is a tremendous inspiration that taught me to strive for the stars and never be intimidated by any musician or anyone, 'cause "we know what's up.” - Nicaragua representing baby!

What does the “Fantasma Sound” mean to you?
It is tradition with a contemporary concept and feel. When you hear the infectious grooves of Fantasma, which penetrate and stimulate anyone that has any signs of rhythm, you get the modern sounds of music AND you are exposed to the old school melodies and rhythms. Properly mixed you get the "Fantasma Sound", a beautiful and inspiring combination!

How does it feel to be the elder statesman of the band?
I feel a sense of musical responsibility since I’ve had this type music around me all of my life, and I think have a natural sense for great hooks and songs. So far I've done pretty well following my instincts for the choices of songs and styles that I bring to the band, and I'll continue the productivity of ideas and my contribution to the Fantasma Sound! As far as age, that's exactly how I look at it – just a number. But it helps to get respect from the people around you, especially when you are consistent with your craft.
