If you had to pick one specific genre of music to play for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Funk, because I’m a bass player and I love to lay down the groove.

Why did you choose to play the bass?

I didnt, it chose me! I wanted to play the drums but my parents told me drums were too loud and I wouldn't stick to them. When I moved to Laredo, TX in eighth grade I met future and current GF guitarist Beto Martinez. He had a crappy little gremlin guitar with rusty strings and a built in speaker, one of those guitars parents give their kids at X-mas which they try to learn on until the batteries die or the kid gets bored and moves on to nintendo. He wanted to put together a band to play Metallica covers and they needed a bass player. It just so happened that my brother owned a bass guitar! It only had two strings and someone had shot a hole in it during a drunken night of revelry, and there was no amp. But I liked Metallica OK so we agreed i would play bass and Beto would play guitar. 15+ years and about 20 different bands later, we're still jamming together although our instruments have improved greatly. Anyways, I practiced on that two stringed thing constantly, trying to get used to wiggling my fingers and holding it. I guess my parents felt sorry for me so they bought me some cheap bass and a tab book to Metallica's "Kill 'em All" and I was on my way to being a bass player. Since then I've learned to play a few other instruments (guitar/drums/keys, etc.) but somebody's always looking for a good bass player.
